Tribute to the power of nature, resilience, connection and agility, brining us together and giving us joy and motivation to live: this is what Friday Special Midsummer performance by our guests Carina Calderon and Alfredo "Oso" Astesiano, is about. Carina and Alfredo are Argentinian tango teachers, performers and choreographers living in Italy, also active in a wider cultural interpretation and innovation of dancing, with tango in heart.
Carina Calderon is an Argentine dancer with over 40 years of experience, trained in classical ballet from childhood and later in contemporary dance at the Teatro General San Martín in Buenos Aires. Her tango was shaped in the heart of Buenos Aires, studying and dancing with the great masters: Carlos Gavito, Miguel Ángel Zotto, Juan Carlos Copes, Carlos Copello, Ana María Coria, Aoniken Quiroga, Sebastián Jiménez, among others. For Alfredo, "tango is a language, a form of communication. I started dancing tango many years ago without knowing how far it would take me in life. As an immigrant, tango has always traveled with me; it is one of the few things I could bring from Argentina that did not need a suitcase. Tango lives within everyone who learns to understand this language and finds a way to express it — through music, dance, poetry, or simply through the heart."
